Since September 2025, Alisa Weltken has been a doctoral student in subproject M02, which focuses on the programming of transcriptional identity by estrogens and androgens in developing human brain cells.

She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology and Biopharmaceutical Technology at the University of Applied Sciences Central Hesse in 2021. She then enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen to gain a deeper insight into medical biotechnology and gene therapy. For her master's thesis, she worked at Sartorius Lab Instruments GmbH & Co. KG in Göttingen and studied the production and purification of adeno-associated viruses, a vector for gene therapies. After graduating, she worked as a lab technician at Fraunhofer ITMP-TNM in Göttingen. There, she gained insight into stem cell research and CRISPR/Cas9-based genome editing, both of which are proving beneficial for her research on the M02 project.
