Sudharsan Agas Chandra Prakash is a Doctoral student in project M04 within CRC 1665. He holds a B.Tech in Biotechnology from Karunya University (India) and an M.Tech in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from the University of Aberdeen (UK). During his studies, he worked on diverse topics ranging from pharmacophore modeling for Alzheimer’s drug candidates to multi-omics analysis of small RNAs in SARS-CoV-2 infection. His master's thesis at EpitogenX focused on developing deep learning models for epitope prediction, contributing to the design of a diagnostic assay for Lyme disease.
His PhD work focuses on mapping regulatory variants in promoters and enhancers of key genes involved in DSD. Using saturation mutagenesis and Massively Parallel Reporter Assays (MPRA), he is building a variant atlas across different cell types. He also applies CRISPRa/i perturbation to validate transcription factor binding sites and gain insights into the mechanisms of gene regulation during development.
Driven by curiosity and a love for both benchwork and bioinformatics, Agas thrives in interdisciplinary spaces. He’s especially interested in developing scalable experimental and computational frameworks to study how regulatory variation shapes development, identity, and disease.
