Carl Jaekel has been a medical student at the University of Lübeck since 2022 and works at the Institute of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Lübeck under the supervision of Professor Walter Raasch.
The aim of the project is to gain a better understanding of the CYP17A1 polymorphism and its role in gender-specific processes in the development of coronary artery disease and obesity. To this end, therapeutic options will be tested in animal experiments and their effects on the treated mice investigated in order to gain a mechanistic understanding of the pathophysiological significance of the CYP17A1 variants, their sex-specific mechanisms and possible therapeutic potential.
