Baraah Alnawasreh is a PhD student with a background in Molecular Biotechnology (B.Sc.) and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (M.Sc.) from the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz. During her Master's thesis at the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology at the University Hospital Dresden, she focused on the quantitative analysis of bioactive metabolites using LC-MS/MS. Since June 2024, she has been part of subproject M06 within CRC 1665 "Sexdiversity," where she works on comprehensive profiling of steroid hormone metabolites in human genital tissues. Her research compares androgenic steroid profiles in various forms of XY-DSD using cultured genital skin fibroblasts. She uses advanced LC-MS/MS techniques to simultaneously quantify key steroid metabolites across different biosynthetic pathways and compare androgenic steroid profiles in various molecularly defined forms of XY-DSD (e.g., androgen insensitivity syndromes, CYP17 deficiency, 5α-reductase type II deficiency, 17β-HSD III deficiency) and XY controls using supernatants from cultured genital skin fibroblast cell lines.
