Annalena Fuchs has been studying human medicine at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin since 2019 and has been a doctoral student at the Institute for the History of Medicine and Ethics in Medicine since 2024. She is also a fellow of the Collaborative Research Center (CRC) 1665 "Sex Diversity". Her research focuses on clinical approaches to Differences in Sex Development (DSD) in the GDR within the framework of socialist health policy. She aims to historically analyze the relationship between sex diversity and medical practices in order to critically contextualize current approaches. Her broader interests include feminist science and transdisciplinary research.
As part of an MD scholarship, Annalena Fuchs was affiliated with the Integrated Research Training School of the Collaborative Research Center “Sexdiversity – Determinants, Meanings, and Implications of Gender Diversity in Sociocultural, Medical, and Biological Contexts” (CRC 1665) from Oktober 2024 to September 2025. Since October 2025, Annalena is integrated into the iRTG as an associated fellow.
