Prathiksha Ramesh is a doctoral student in the subproject M02 – Programming of transcriptional identity by estrogens and androgens in developing human brain cells, part of the SFB 1665 collaborative research center.

She completed her Bachelor’s degree (2021) in Biotechnology from Dayananda Sagar University, India, and her Master’s degree (2023) in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from the University of Aberdeen, UK.

Her first laboratory experience began at East Point Hospital, India, where she gained basic hands-on training in molecular biology techniques. During her Master’s, she worked on a Royal Society-funded project at the University of Aberdeen, investigating the role of Siglec-15 as a dual pH checkpoint and its effects on T cell function in anti-cancer immunity and the tumor microenvironment. She also interned at the Scottish Biologics Facility, contributing to the production and purification of monoclonal antibodies for developing a lateral flow test to detect toxins involved in shellfish poisoning.

Prathiksha is passionate about interdisciplinary research at the crossroads of molecular biology, neurodevelopment, and endocrinology. She is determined to uncover how steroid hormones shape transcriptional identity in the developing brain, with the broader aim of understanding sex-based differences in development and disease.
